A 5" x 7" black and white photograph depicting Wolf Man actor Lon Chaney Jr. Boldly signed at lower left hand corner Lon Chaney in blue fountain pen. And is a wonderful undedicated example. Light toning with evidence of prior mounting on verso, else very fine.
Lon Chaney Jr. (1906-1973), born Creighton Tull Chaney, was the only child of notable silent film actor Lon Chaney (1883-1930). Despite his original intentions to distance himself from his famous father, Creighton would begin acting in small roles following Lon Sr.'s death in 1930. After going on to star in several feature films under contract with RKO and 20th Century Fox, he would be most remembered for his work at Universal Studios in his role as The Wolf Man (1941), and Son of Dracula etc. Throughout the rest of the 1940s, Chaney would reprise his role as the werewolf in several sequels, starting with Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man in 1943, in addition to appearing in the popular Mummy and Inner Sanctum franchises. Indeed, he would be largely typecast in horror film roles for the rest of his career, alongside actors such as Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi.
